Feature Friday - 07/31/2026
welcome to the very first feature friday, @everyone!
we retired our traditional changelog because, frankly, we couldn't keep up with it. a lot of smaller improvements, bug fixes, and quality-of-life changes were slipping through the cracks, even though they made a real difference.
now, every friday i'll be posting a roundup of everything worth knowing from the past week. major announcements will still get their own posts, but feature friday is where you'll find all the little things that make the platform better.
updates
male character sexual orientation filter
we've added a sexual orientation filter for male characters to help users more easily discover the kinds of characters they're looking for.
* available during character creation and explore
* creators can mark male characters as gay, straight, or open if applicable
* male characters with "open" selected will continue to appear in both categories, so existing characters remain discoverable by everyone
this is purely a discovery feature designed to give users more control over the content they'd like to browse—it isn't intended to limit visibility or change how existing characters appear by default.
bug fixes
* fixed an issue where our thinking models could occasionally return an empty response, causing them to repeatedly enter a thinking state instead of completing their reply.
improvements
character versioning improvements
editing your characters is now much more straightforward.
* drafts can now be edited directly instead of creating a brand new draft every time
* you can now designate any version as the **primary version** to submit for moderation
what's next?
we've got plenty more in the works, and while we can't always share everything ahead of time, we'll keep you posted as things become ready to ship.
thanks, as always, for all the reports, suggestions, and feedback. they genuinely help shape where we're headed, and we hope feature friday gives everyone a clearer picture of the progress being made behind the scenes
